I Learned How to Write a Résumé in College and We Have a Career Services Center. Why Can’t I Just Use That Résumé or the Coaches in Our Center?

Unfortunately, the résumé you learned how to write in college may not be the most effective for your job target, especially if you’re targeting a specific field. We work with hundreds of university students one-on-one and find that most are taught just the basics, using practices from as far back as two decades! Even if you are alumni of a top tier school you have to keep in mind that you are competing with students and graduates of other private, ivy league and high-ranking public universities as well. And your college résumé will also only last for so long. You will definitely need to update it, deleting a lot of unnecessary, non-relevant info. as you gain more experience.
